Species: Scarlet-chested Sunbird (Chalcomitra senegalensis)

Location: Silole Sanctuary, Kajiado, Kenya

A scarlet-chested sunbird perches briefly while foraging at Silole Sanctuary, bordering Nairobi National Park to the south.

The long, decurved bill is perfect for siphoning nectar from flowers, it's main food source. This species, however, is not an exclusive nectar-feeder. It also feeds on insects and spiders.
