Species: African Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer)

The African Fish Eagle is perhaps the most iconic and recognizable eagle in Africa. Its unique, loud call is often refered to as 'the call of Africa'.
This species belongs to a widespread group of iconic eagles known as the Sea Eagles, or Fish Eagles (genus Haliaeetus). Other members of this group include the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), which is the national emblem of the USA, and the white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), which is the national bird of Germany and the largest eagle in Europe.
