Species: African Savanna Elephant (Loxodonta africana), Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta), Grant's Gazelle (Nanger granti)

Location: Naboisho Conservancy, Masai Mara, Kenya

An elephant, hyena, and gazelle completely ignore each other as each calmly goes about its own business.

Although the hyena is a predator, it is no threat to the elephant. The gazelle is potential prey but it could tell from the hyena's body language that it was not hunting at the moment, and so had no cause for alarm. Animals are able to read each other's body language in order to determine whether or not there is a potential threat.
